As the latest Samsung smartphone dominates the market,  many of you are probably thinking of switching to this new product. If innovation is what you’re after, we can certainly see the Korean-company bringing their best foot forward with the eye-tracking technology and more. Yet, despite the shortcomings on the new features, the iPhone 5 still took the lead in sales last year. Before you head on and purchase the Samsung Galaxy S4, we’ll discuss a few of its features and compare it to its current competitor – Apple’s iPhone 5.

However, Samsung is ready to take the challenge as they bring out their A-game with the release of Galaxy S4 AKA ‘Life Companion’. Based on O2’s page for the new Samsung Galaxy S4, here are the full specifications of the new Galaxy smartphone installment:

Screen: From its predecessor’s 4.8-inch Super AMOLED Display comes the 5-inch Full HD screen of Galaxy S4.  The pixel density of both Galaxy phones also differ: S3 supporting 306 ppi while S4 has 441 ppi.

Memory storage: The new Samsung device and the previous one both carry 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 64GB. We just hope they can expand it to as much as 128GB. This is not impossible considering that last year; analysts said that Samsung is developing the large embedded storage for their tablets and smartphones.

Operating system: Obviously, Galaxy S4 will carry the latest Android OS 4.2 which can be updated to version 4.2.2.

Component: Faster and bigger are the game this year. From S3’s 1.4GHz processor comes S4’s 1.6GHz. Samsung was also generous to make the RAM 2GB. If you think having a Quad-core makes you cool, wait until you see the Octa-core of this device. It runs the Exynos 5 Octa that adds the 1.6-1.8GHz Quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 with 1.2 GHz Quadcore Arm Cortex A7, making it the most powerful smart devices to date.

Features: The Korean-company was proud to tell consumers that they were successful in developing the Smart Play eye-tracking function on the S3. But they didn’t stop in enhancing the feature. This time, Samsung released their latest phone with better eye-tracking feature: Smart Pause and Smart Scroll. Apart from the Smart Play that turns off your screen when you fall asleep, users can now enjoy their videos better. With the Smart Pause, videos stop when you look away and play back when you’re ready to watch again. The company also introduced Smart Scroll that scrolls down the page on your screen with just your eye movement.

Conclusion:

The Retina Display and iOS 6 of iPhone 5 are revolutionary in their own way, giving Apple a good cut on the market share last year. Yet, with the launch of Samsung’s powerful phone with eye-tracking functions, mobile innovation was once again redefined. Although the air shuffling is not a new invention with O+ 8.12 as well as the wireless charger from, we still find it new to us nevertheless. So, will you ditch your current smartphone for Galaxy S4? Tell us about it.
